Support Groups

Social and informal support networks for youth and parents are essential. Right Turn® is committed to connecting families and youth to support groups where social networks and friendships can be forged. Growing your family through adoption and guardianship is unique and these support groups provide opportunities for parents and children to get to know others through shared experiences.

Most people can talk about how they potty trained their children or addressed their child’s first crush, but who can relate to how to support your child through their first family history project in school or how to include your child’s birth family in celebrating their high school graduation? Being able to discuss situations other adoptive and guardianship parents may be going through is therapeutic

Stop by a group to laugh, vent, ask questions, brag about your child, or just listen. Some groups provide childcare which is a great way for your children to meet other adopted children in a natural, informal, non-threatening environment. If there isn’t a group near you, contact us, we may know of other support groups available in your area. If we receive enough interest in a specific location we may be able to start a group.
